About the therapist
I began my psychological work and education more than fifteen years ago. I have successful experience working with children, teens, adult individuals and couples, and my client's age have ranged from the age of four to seventy five. I firmly belief that anyone can make significant and positive changes in their life through the therapeutic process, if they are open and committed to being introspective and to change. As a private practice therapist I have helped clients overcome a wide variety of personal issues including the above mentioned issues and many more. I have two university degrees in psychology and a multicultural background. As an affiliate member of the American Psychological Association and a member of the National Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapists, I adhere to the ethical guidelines and professional standards of these organisations. What is psychotherapy?
Psychological counselling, also known as psychotherapy, is an effective and scientifically proven method for treating a wide variety of psychological symptoms and problems that stubbornly persist. Psychotherapy consists mainly of talk therapy, but can also sometimes include relaxation exercises, written "homework" exercises, brief assessments, and other types of exercises that can be helpful to the healing process. The therapeutic process consist in helping individuals, couples, and families gain a better understanding of their psychological difficulties and to provide strategies and tools to deal with unwanted thoughts and behaviours. The ultimate goal of therapy is to achieve a better, more balanced, and more satisfactory life for the client. The type of counselling that I offer, is face-to-face counselling taking place in a comfortable, safe, and professional setting.
